I know what you're talking about...i also noticed that her music video that comes on her cd is different than the actual song that is recorded on the cd. there aren't many differences, but it has a few extra parts.

this girl is truly amazing...she had gotten into a bad car accident...and everyone thought that she would never be able to sing again. but listen to her...her voice is awesome!

as for the gutsuli people...my mom and step dad had gone to that region of ukraine...and i'm not sure about the whole thing about them "despising anyone who speaks russian", etc. they are actually the friendliest, most honest and kind people that i've ever heard of. even w/the tourists that come, there...the people there never try to cheat you in any way. as i said they are very friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel at home.

if you do want to freshen up your ukrainian language...you should definetly go there...they speak the true, pure language.

Talking

i'm sorry if i misinformed anyone by my last reply. i learned more about the hutsuli and it turns out that they don't exactly like the russians. but they sure have a reason to, the russians made it so speaking the ukrainian language was illegal and the hutsuli especially had fought against that rule. i also talked to my mom and she said that although they are very friendly (even to russians)they obviosly don't really like the russians (of course it's not everyone...but still). Really, most of ukraine doesn't like the russians. the language of the russians is always made fun of...most of the ukrainian jokes are about the russians and how ugly the language is .

As for the statment made about ukes hating russians... as a genereal rule you are right. just like as a genereal rule Jews hate germans.... More ukrainians were killed during ww2 than jews... 10 000 000 ukrainians were starved to deathe in 1932-33. But geeze... anyone who claims they are remotely ukrainian should know this! 6000 Russian soldires masacared 500 ukrainian school children at Kruty! Ukrainians are a gentle people but they have to learn to defend themselves from Russia and that idea of domination by them! We are a strong people who have to become confident that we are worth something!

AS for RUslana, she does not translate her music into Russian or english... she is a Ukie Patriot who is trying to make Ukrainians more aware of their roots. her song is different on tv from the CD becuse she edited it after the video was released!

Thumbs up

The Arkan and the Kolomykia are both old ukrainian dance melodies that ruslana has put to a rock beat to reintroduce Ukrainian Youth to thier original (non russia invaded) roots! many of her earlier stuff is also ver patriotic!
She rocks!
