Eurovision 2007

Verka SERDYUCHKA will represent Ukraine at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Dancing.

Seven artists competed for the Ukrainian ticket to Helsinki. The winner was selected by televoters and a professional jury.

Several 2007 Eurovision Song Contest participants performed during the Ukrainian national final. Olivia LEWIS from Malta, THE JET SET from Poland, the group TODOMONDO from Romania and Dmytri KOLDUN from Belarus all travelled to Kyiv to perform their entries for Helsinki. DJ Bobo, this year's Swiss representative, could not attend, but prepared a message for the audience.

Due to Tina KAROL's excellent performance in last year's Eurovision Song Contest, this year's Ukrainian representative is directly qualified for the Final on 12th May in Helsinki, Finland.

Truthfully, i think its terible. Very sad
Must every year get worse and worse

Seriously, what is this. She looks russian and even though the few words she says sound Ukrainian, it seems like she wants them to be russia.

Overall, shamefull.

Andrii Danilko looks Ukrainian, not Russian. My husband said he looks like he is from South-Central Ukraine. Have you seen his music videos under his name? He also never says "g" in a Russian way - it is almost a "h" - more Ukrainian too. I've seen many of his videos, and his tunes are catchy. My husband almost fell down laughing when he saw some of them. He says that whoever is behind Andrii is someone from his generation, because he notices that many of the songs are parodies of Soviet pop stars from the 1970's. For example, "Ya Smius" is a parody of a popular Latvian singer, who my husband said was very pretty, but couldn't sing. "Chyta Grytal" refers to the lines of a Georgian actor in a popular Soviet movie.

I think the song is a brilliant parody of Europop. I didn't hear any Russian in it.

Edit - Yes, he does say "horosho". I think that's the only Russian in the song.

Hey Kathy

I don't know, i just feel the russian in that song, maybe its just me.
I still don't see anything modern in it. I just think it's weird. And the setting of it too.

When you say "he" thats a typo right?

Kathy, and anyone else, do you know this song.
It sounds cool and it goes like (in Ukrainian)
"This is my country, my Ukriane" Thats the catch phrase of it.
Just gets be exited and in the sprit
That should be the song chosen
Do you know the name of it and who sings it. Its a girl

Well, Verka is a character played by Andrij Danilko. Verka is supposed to be a woman, but because the character is played by a man, I say "he".

Was the song you liked one that was in Ukraine's Eurovision competition?
