Living/working Kiev

Dear people,

2 years ago I met a woman (trough the internet) in Kiev, who is pregnant at the moment, and we are getting married soon.
The baby is due in November and from that time I am planning to stay in Kiev.

I am planning to come to Kiev to live and to work there.
Can anyone give me some information, advice or suggestions ?

I would like some information about :

- Living

I guess the best would be to buy an apartment, but where can I find more information (internet) about apartments for sale in or around Kiev ?
Are there also apartments that can be rent for long-term periods (like 1, 2 or 3 years) ?
And what will be the price of these apartments (I don't hope also $20-$30 a night) ?

- Work

What is the best way to find a job in Kiev ?
I have many years experience in warehouses (transport and logistics)
as a warehouse manager, administration and planning.
I also have a rich experience in computers, because it is my biggest hobby, and I have followed a course in my own free time.
I have had a job, working trough the internet, and it is possible that I can do that again in Kiev.

- Permanent residence

I am already familiar with the application for getting a permanent residence for Ukraine, but mayeb some people who have experience in applying for it can give me some information about things I have to know when I apply or if it might give me any trouble ?

It's a long story but I hope somebody can give me more information or usefull tips about this.

With regards
Paul

Smile Job

Hi Paul,

don't know your nationality, but for a job try the Chamber of Commerce of your country - there might be transport companies from your home country having subsidiaries in Ukraina. If your fiance is from Kiev, let her look through the telephone book for transport companies or ask the Ukrainan Chamber of Commerce. Ambassies often provide you with a list of companies if you ask...
Maybe it helps?!

Good luck!

In English? Nowhere. Ask your girlfriend to do the hunting. There are plenty of resources in Russian.
I wouldn't advise looking around Kiev, unless you have a lot of money to rent a villa. Within Kiev the rule is the farther from the center, the cheaper the rent.

Locals rent too, so yes, there are long-term rentals available. Price ranges vary, anything from $200 (crappy and far from the anything) to $2000 for luxury 2 bedrooms in the historic city center.
