Moving to Kiev in March

Hi, I'm moving to Kiev, Ukraine in mid-March of 2004 and know basically nothing about the country, people and life there. So I'm looking for any detailed info., especially about Kiev...since that's where I'll be based.

I'm living with 2 other girls in an apartment on the edge of city, and working for a non-profit group...so housing and job are already established. I just need info. on daily life, what to bring or not to bring... I'll be there for 7 months...so it's a good amount of time.
