Hi

I am English and my wife Russian (now naturalised English) and we plan to move and live in the Ukraine next year.

We have already bought land near Alushta in the Crimea and are currently having a small house built there.

I have a small private pension of about $800 a month and my wife is a qualified English teacher and so we hope to earn a little money from teaching English. In addition if we sell our house in the UK after paying off the remaining mortgage we should have enough money to build a second house to possibly rent out in the summer months to holiday makers. All in all I think we should have enough income to live ok in the Crimea.

The questions I am having great trouble getting answers to are these -

1. We assume that we will need to obtain a Permanent Residency Visa for long term living in the Ukraine. But according to the information we have this visa is only Single Entry. Yet we have relations living in both the UK and Russia and so plan to travel in and out of the Ukraine. How do we get a visa that will allow us to come and go? Or do we have to apply for a visa each time - in which case there would seem no advantage to having Permanant Residency there.

2. We plan to send some (not all) of our personal belonging over to the Ukraine. Does anyone know of a reliable and not too expensive company that can arrange this?

3. Regarding personal belongings, does anyone know how we can bring these into the Ukraine without paying Custom Duties - they are personal belongings and therefore taxes have been paid in the UK we don't want to pay again!

4. We may also consider taking our car over to the Ukraine - is this possible and what is the best way of doing so.

We would welcome any pointers anyone can give. Also contacts for any other ex-pats living over in the Ukraine.

My personal email address is kevinedwards@kiska.co.uk So feel free to email me privately if you wish.

Many thanks

Kevin
