VAT, Customs and Excise

Hi,

Does anyone know the "facts" about bringing personal items into Ukraine? I am getting married and moving to Ukraine from the U.K. and wish to take my personal belongings with me. However, it seems that while all the top courier organisations are happy to ship my goods, they will still be subject to local VAT and Customs & Excise duty, to such an extent that it would be absolutely pointless for me to take these items with me - i.e. clothes, desktop, computer etc. Surely, this is mad, I would nothing but my 23kg allowance from the airline.

If my partner came to the U.K. she would qualify for total relief from VAT and C&E duty - is their something equivalent for me going to Ukraine?
