Hello all,
I have a question regarding a very close friend of mine, she has been in the USA for 3 years now, her mother married an american man to come over here but is happy. Now for stupid reasons the mother wants to send her daughter back to the ukraine. My question is that they do not have their green cards yet, just a travel document. She told me that it is possible to go back to the ukraine with only having this document and nothing else, is that true? The daughter is 17 until end of June, if she stalls until she is 18 and gets her green card would she be able to stay here? If her mother sends her back would this be considered deportation, not allowing her to leave the country for 10 years? Thank you all kindly for your time! |

Hello, maybe I am late with my response, but i would like to tell you that sending this girl, in this situation, to Ukraine is a BIG mistake. Without green card she will not be able to return to the US. The outcome also depends on their (Mother and dauther) status in US. If the Mother is the citizen (because she married the American), than the outcome might be different. I am not familiar with the laws in this area (citizenship), but if they came on a visiting visa, and it expired, than they are in big trouble (if this girl goes to Ukraine). The US government won't let her back in.
If she will go there I might take several years for her to return. I know some people who made the same miskake. They are not allowed to return, and they were legal immigrants. They just did not wait long enough for their green card to arrive. Hope this information helps. |
