Dear Ukrania,

I am planning a visit to your country next month and would like to receive some "real No-****" feedback on your country.

I am very unbiased as I have never been in your country before . I have heard many conflicting views of your country from a very charming hard working people living in a rural environment to I should pay up my life insurance now , update my will , invest in a "flask jacket " , contact General Swarzkopf and his team to accompany me and ask along Bill Gates as my money man.

But seriously I would very much like to enjoy my trip and would appreciate hotels in Kiev , what kind of entertainment I can expect , thing to see and last but not least how I should behave in order not to stand out as another crazy American !

Thanks in Advance for any tips !

See you in Kiev !

hi

i am a lover of Ukraine and i visit quite often kiev and the country
however as a french man i am not the best to reply to your mail
but i would like to share with you experience
it is better to rent a flat than to go to hotel they expensive or not so confortable

one advice
never agree if someone offer you help
but if you need help, stop any one in the street and you will get the best friendly support
dont give money to these people but take them to restaurant or somewhere they could become your best friends

lot of young people can speak or understand english but often they are afraid to speak so dont hesitate to make them very cool

for your information a one room flat not far from the center cost 15 usd for 24 hours
if more information needed dont hesitate have a good trip
rhe

Kiev is nice, cheap at times if you know the local ways.
Ric's right, privately rented apartments are probable the best, it's sort of Ukrainian form of B&B. You can find them through any search engine.
With the hotels everything depends on how much money you want to spend - you can stay at a 5-star hotel for $180-250-... per night. I promise you will enjoy the service!!! )))
It's not really dangerous here, but you still should use reasonable amount of caution. Credit cards are accepted in a lot of places now and there are ATM machines too.
You ARE going to stand out as an American. There is just no escaping it. Locals use different body langage, move differently, dress differently, and look differently.
Watching people is the best entertainment there is here!

Yalta is a Black Sea resort. It's nice, a little run down. Reminds me a little of the Mediterranian. Check out the history - that's where the WWII ended.

If you have more questions - feel free to ask.
