Moving to Lviv..
Hello I am planning to spend 3 months in Lviv (maybe longer if I like it and I can get Visa).
It's the first time I've moved out from family home, I'm only 18.. I have been learning Ukrainian for the past year so I know the basics to get by. I've studied Ukraine as a country for 3 years. Anyway I've sent a few emails away regarding places to live. Has anyone lived in a Lviv hostel before? Or a hostel in Ukraine? It's affordable? It's likely I will fly from UK into Kyiv, then need a train to Lviv. Easily done yes? No doubt I will remember more questions later..thanks) |

Hi, there are guys from Lviv on this forum so I think they can give you a few good advices as to accommodation in the city. If not, then book something on the internet and when you come there you will find something else.
From my side I have a few words on Kyiv and the train. First there are buses from Borispol (Kyiv's airport) that park just in front of the entrance/exit of the airport (at least they did such a year ago). The buses go directly to the train station in Kyiv. A year ago a bus ticket was 30 uah (about 3-4 usd). There are many trains to Lviv from Kyiv so you just need to come to any ticket office in the train station and buy a ticket. Have a nice stay in Lviv and Ukraine. |

Flights from London to Kiev
I don't know if you are aware of Wizzair, they seem to have the cheapest flights between London and Kiev. However, take note they are no longer using Borispol but a smaller airport closer to Kiev, but I am sure Wizzair have a transfer service to Kiev centre. Also note than many other European carriers are using the new Terminal F. It is some distance from the existing terminal building and it may be that you may have to walk with baggage to the usual bus stand.

Thanks for the replies guys
AkMike - Yep I'm fairly clued up on that front. I was thinking about staying for the intended 3 months and then if I liked it, apply for a Visa in Ukraine because I read that's easier than applying here? Nick, Gizmo - I've altered my plans slightly - I'm going to spend a couple of days in Prague to catch up with a mate and then we're going to spend a couple of days in Lviv together before he heads back. He says we can get an overnight train from Prague to L'viv which might be easier. |

I think that you'll find that you need to apply for the visa at a Ukrainian Embassy.. (There aren't any there.) Application for a private visa is easy at your local embassy. It'll just cost some.
Why do you want to live in Ukraine? Studies? Why Lviv? |
