Just thought of sharing information about this publication that I found most useful in Ukraine

Renting an Apartment in Ukraine: Tenant Survival Guide
by Geoffrey Redfern

A rental apartment is an excellent alternative to an overpriced hotel in any Ukrainian major city. In Kiev, Odessa, Donetsk, Kharkiv or Lviv this is the best way to stay for a short term and to come to contact with friendly locals, while the long-term rent is always the best way to know Ukraine and its traditions to the fullest extent.

However, finding an excellent apartment renovated up to an acceptable standard is a huge hassle, not to mention the language and alphabet barrier in Ukraine for most people coming from Western Europe or North America. We have based our guide on years of experience living and working in Ukraine and, most importantly, renting apartments of various sorts in different parts of the country from the landlords of all walks of life.

The Tenant Survival Guide is also intended to give tenants a basic understanding of residential tenancy law in Ukraine. We hope it will assist tenants in resolving any problems or complications they may be having with their tenancy. It provides links to a number of useful resources around Ukraine.

The Tenant Survival Guide, includes, among other things the following:

• lots of helpful tips and sample documents required for a tenant to rent an apartment;

• basis rules aimed to avoid common pitfalls;

• contacts of reliable real estate agents with English speaking abilities;

• Sample tenant documents in English and Ukrainian; and

• Practical advice how to find an appropriate apartment for your purposes in Ukraine.

Finally, the Tenant Survival Guide has a section called “Taking Action” which lets tenants know how to and where to make complaints when they think they have not been treated fairly or are concerned about poor housing conditions, or are not satisfied otherwise.

Available only in printed format and delivered by courier or post directly to your address in Ukraine or abroad.

To order the Tenant Survival Guide, just drop us an e-mail to ackp@ukr.net or give a call at +38 044 228 98 10.
