Bohdan-Ihor Antonytsch

I currently read 'Twelve Rings' by Juri Andruchowitsch and I love it. It celebrates an author Bohdan-Ihor Antonytsch (which is - I deem - the German transliteration).
I didn't find any translation of Antonytsch works at vlb or amazon or other databases. Thus I don't know if Antonytsch is a real author or just a product of the authors fancy - including the poems quoted.

I want to ask some Ukrainian: Is there a famous poet in Ukraine named Bohdan-Ihor Antonytsch. Is it possible to get some translations of his poetry? I don't know any Ukranian and my Russian... let's say I made a start.

Regards from Germany

Thanks a lot...

At least I learned, that Antonytsch isn't a product of Andruchowytsch' fancy.

By the way: Are there any internet ressources available to help me with learning Ukrainian? This might take a while...

Hi Klingsor,

I am very pleased to learn that you like to read Andruchovytsch. He is very popular now in Ukraine ( some people say he is one of the best at the moment ) . I like to listen to him, read his inerview, etc.

To my shame I haven't read his latest novels But if you in Germany find them so interesting I for sure will... Thank you.

I'd say Antonych was equaly popular in Ukraine on the turn of 19-20 centuries. Some of his poems became famous , dear for every Ukrainian soul songs.

I think you could visit a site of Ukrainian students in Germany. They are very polite and knowledgeable young people

http://www.sus-n.org

You can email at

NHALA@GMX.NET and ask Nadia .

Those wonderful people live in Munich . They know everything about Ukrainian culture in Germany and will be happy to help you. ( I could write about your question to them as well if you want ).

I'd love to help you , but I live in Ukraine and send you my warm hello from it
