I don't know if you can call contemporary Hollywood films "modern"...They tend to be remakes of old movies...Remember Planet of the Apes redone? Italian Job soon to be redone, The Truth about Charlie based on Charade from the 60s, etc, etc.

Deja Vu

Irinka,
I think you need some relax from time to time after working with all these crazy mavericks on this forum.
I wonder whether you have watched a Polish film "Deja Vu". Its French sounding title is somewhat misguiding.

"When the mob sends a hitman of Polish descent to Odessa to do a job, the enthusiastic welcome by the Soviets blows his cover...".
As you see there are some Odessa tunes in this film.
Machulski, the Polish film-maker, has a good sense of humour. There is a chance that his sense of humour is not yours, but... I think the Odessa setting will prevail.
I know that the film was quite popular in Russia some years ago.
Not a bad choice for a rainy week-end.
