An America immigrated to England and decided to go shopping at Sammy Smith's Saving Store.He purchased 2 cart loads of groceries.His bill came to$963.87. To pay the cashier, he put his hand into his pocket and pulled out a handful of dollar bills, clumsily. While doing this many dollar bills fell onto the floor.Trying to prevent his money from being scattered about ,he placed his feet on the money.This was a spectacle for many who had gathered in the vicinity.The manager too ,was aroused from his slumber in the office.

He called the American and told him that he should go to the bank and get a cheque book so that his payments could be made by cheques which were convenient rather than carrying cash in his pockets. The man accepted the manager's
suggestion and opened a chequing account.

A few days later, the American decided to buy several things from the grocers,hardware stores,butchery,jewellers,
clothing stores.He had spent a few thousands.This became a
habit and soon he had little money in his account.

The manager of Sammy Smith's Savings Store became alarmed
when the cheque made by the American bounced. He decided to write a letter asking the American to come to his office to discuss matters.

The American came to the office and the manager informed him that the cheque that he had made to the store had bounced because of insufficient funds,and that he had only $100 left in the bank but made out a cheque for $500.00.
The American smiled and told the manager that he could rectify the error in a minute.He then pulled out his cheque
book and made out a cheque for $400.00
