In reply to Englishman 1958 : proceed with caution my friend. Last year after dating a girl from Western Ukraine for more than 6 months, I started to go through the process of getting her a visa to visit me in England.
We had booked into a hotel in central Kiev for a few days, within walking distance of the Visa Application Centre, later that day she turned into the ***** from hell, blaming it on her time of month.
To cut a long story short I ended our romance on a friendly note and came home.
My brother is meeting a girl in Kiev in September, I hope he has better luck.
