Today I read in newspapers that there are more Russian books in Ukrain than Ukrains, that on the TV a lot of programmes are in Russian, etc. Will survive our language?

Yes it will, Ukrainian government lead a strict program about Ukrainizing Ukraine. In Ukraine are only very few schools where everything is in Russian. In Kyiv there are no such schools, they are located in Eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian language is the only languiage used on government TV programs(which are UT1 UT2 and UT3). Books are being translated into Ukrainian language, and all the official papers are made in Ukrainian language. Russian language is being pushed out of Ukraine, because Russian language is danger for UA lang.

Stas, I thought you were a clever guy. But the words like this can't say a clever person.
Almost all people in Lviv know Russian and the idiots there who hit on their chest and cry out loud that they don't know Russian and hate Russian are worthy only being put into mental hospital.

"hit on their chest and cry out loud" - you meant it literally? I do not know, if it is true, but that is what I heard, that alm0ost nobody in Lviv know Russian language, and it is a true that Russian language is a danger for Ukrainian language, both languages are similiar, and if they both spoken in one country, it can lead to creation of another Ukr-Russo language. Actually it is already created, in villages, people talk with some Ukrainian and Russian words together. Russian languages represents more danger more then anything else to Ukrainian culture. Maybe in 30 years, when proper Ukrainian will be spoken across all Ukrainian lands, Russian wont be a danger, but now it is.

Zhenya, Stas, I have sayd what I have read in the Ukrain press. Stasiu, in Lviv every person studied in the former USSR Russian. But I speak about another thing - I was in Ukrain (Lviv) 6 years ago. I bought a lot of Ukrain book in bookstore, in streets, etc. Of course, I hadnt a possibility to buy all I want (only... 20 kg!). But 1 year ago I didnt see this plenty! There was a lot of stupid detective stories in Russian, some Russian singers (of a very little quality)...
