Quick question about 'cases' in Ukrainian

I have a quick question for all of you about cases.. if you wanted to say "I want kasha", it'd be "Ya kochu kashu." What if you were grammatically incorrect and said "Ya kochu kasha"?

I read that people wouldn't really mind, if you seem like a foreigner who's learning the language. Is that true? Or would they mind?
