I really enjoy the Russian language, but I think Russian words look very ugly in our roman letters. It's just my opinion, but now I can't stand to look at Russian anymore, unless it's in the cyrillic text. Not to mention, I get a better grasp of the words sound and pronunciation when I look at it. The letters cyrillic in Russian are more precise to the sound, I think. I think Ukrainian cyrillc is slightly different.

I absolutely agree. I find that trying to transliterate a word (like chicken= kooreetsa) really sucks.
I love the Russian (Cyrillic) alphabet because of the perfectly neat, flat line the typed text makes. When you look at it, it's got a much neater appearance than English does. Also, here's something interesting to try. When I was first learning Russian, I used to just enjoy (still, do, really) listening to the spoken language... how it sounded all rhythmical and crisp. Try listening to English in the same way, and see how it sounds. I think you'll find it's comical and complicated! Kirt |
