This young man has dark skin and hair. They are grooming him for the job as we speak. Why do you think the President is reforming the immigration laws?
You're just another xenophobic. There is no justification for racist attacks on the "dark skin issue" it has nothing to do with Hispanics biy everything to do with your own convenient label.
Language has nothing to do with very distinctive groups that for sake of convenience adopted one label or the other. Your own indigineous people are intimatedly related to the race you call Hispanics or do you think your indians were or are "White" because they were born this side of the border?

I am by no means a racist, far from it. But the way things are is the way things are pal and I've never seen a person of Hispanic origin with blonde hair and blue eyes. Why should I not decribe someone by their looks? Doesn't make me a racist.

Angry

I am glad that your Uzbekistan friend, became fluent in a year. Good for her.

You are stereotyping immigrants from Latin American as illiterate when many of them speak better English than a large number of Anglos that have lived in the United States thier entire life.

Mexican people have been the easiest to blame for various social ills that effect our country. Mexican immigrants are not assimilating into the American melting pot the way other ethnic groups have in the past becuase we are proud of our heritage and not willing to capitulate as the Europeans have.

You stated,"There are even parts of the country such as Florida and Southern California (already over run with illegals anyway) where a US born child can take all of his Schooling in Spanish (from Kindergarten through Highschool) and graduate without proficient knowlegde of English." They let any child of any race graduate without any proficiency, that is why the United States has a high number of illiteracy. The statement, "Oh well, if they just want to remain maids and janitors, it's fine with me." You know for a fact that all janitors and maids are Latin American?

"I myself am half hispanic and speak Spanish." You are a disgrace to all hispanics, and a bad representation of who we are. "She didn't know English very well, but made sure she became as proficient in the language as possible, and got a college education, in English." wow she got her education in "English" big deal! she is special now.

"Of course there will be some ignorant Mexicana whining about how "She got that job because she's a white woman!". Mexicans whine because we have the same capability and are not given the opportunity because of our race. Whites are afraid that we will take over the land that rightfully belongs to us. LATINOS UNIDOS JAMAS SERAN VENCIDOS!!! We will regain what is ours.

What's wrong with cherishing their native tongues too? It is a big part of their ancestral memory. Apart from their facial features and skin colour, language is the main distinguishing feature between different peoples. If there are 148 nations living in Us#A, there are also 148 languages living there. They all deserve their place under the sun.

Not a problem. That's such an easy question to answer that I'm surprised you even brought it up. Then again, maybe you have a different agenda?

OK, here is the short and sweet. America is all about mobility, and the freedom of it's citizens to go wherever they please without having to show internal passports, and explain their reason for being in a particular area. The fact is that English is the language of the nation. You can speak whatever you like, but without English, you limit your potential.

That explains why Russians moving to America choose to learn English very quickly. They have plenty of enclaves where Russian is spoken by most, but they desire to have the entire country at their feet, and learn proper English as a priority. Apparently, it isn't that hard to do.

The Spanish speaking population also includes those who wish to excell in America, and learn English fast and well. Then there are democrat vote panderers. Those politicians seek to keep Spanish speaking people in their pockets, and make every excuse for the government to keep second and third generation Hispanics in the US slaves to the Spanish language, and those parts of America that support it.

Face it, there are many cities and slums in America where you can get by with little knowledge of English for the duration of your life. Then again, the only opportunity you will have throughout your life is what you find in those places. Anyone who supports multi lingual government in urban areas of America supports slavery in my opinion. Slavery in the hope of future votes cast by the slaves in your favor, in return for an occasional taxpayer bone thrown at the slaves.

English is the driving force in America (in terms of language). To avoid challenging new immigrants to learn English as their first priority, or to allow immigrant children, and those later born in the US to learn anything but English as their primary language is to condemn them to live their lives within the prison of their community.

America IS the definition of multiculturalism, and people from around the globe live here, and maintain their tradidions and culture without fear of ridicule or reprisal. The glue that binds them is the universal law of the land, and the language of government and commerce. The English language. All other languages are very welcome, and met with enthusiasm, but they are a secondary consideration if you dream to really make it in the US.

Do you suggest that Russia, Poland, and Ukraine make English an official language? That would be nonsense. Learn what you think will give you an edge, but honor the language of your country first. No matter how many Spanish speakers immigrate to the US in this wave, the language of all corners of America is English. Learn it and prosper.

I offer the same advice to those living in every other country. Learn the language of where you call home today, and you will always have an edge there. Let the lazy and the complacent think that their little native enclave within the greater country offers enough opportunty for the future of their family.
