Candle, racists are not born, they are trained to be that way by either their parents, or society.
"metiso":
M = axe mark in one's head, or military
E = patriarcs
T = two sided axe
I = +, and (po ookrayincke Boof add ME)
S = river
O = earth, o', from
You can also put them together
Me I
Ti these
So seed
ie seeded by rape.

Well, for one thing people fear what they don't understand. This is a tragedy, because I feel foreign language makes the world a little smaller and opens up interesting doors for everyone.

Racism in the United States? Absolutely. But it isn't just white people against the "minorities". It's a two-way street. I think it's based on fear (not fitting in, not achieving one's dreams/goals, whatever), but it's sad all the way around.

AriaFan, you're absolutely right about the Hispanic community having it easier than European immigrants, and I think the answer to that is the Hispanic community is simply larger. In Southern California or Texas, I invite anyone to name ONE SINGLE TOWN that doesn't have a Hispanic population in it. Can the same be said for Russian? German? Any of those? Absolutely not, though Chinese is becoming pretty abundant.

The saddest thing of all is the post someone (can't remember who) left just a few above mine that said we Americans were culturally or linguisitcally ignorant. It's sad because it's absolutely true, with the exception of a small percentage of we multi-linguals. But how did we become this way? We never had to learn a different language because the United States is a commercial and industrial powerhouse. Like it or not, the majority of the countries we trade with or vacation to make sure they speak our language because we have a tremendous influence on the world economy.

So I suppose you could indeed say that, "money talks".

I'm a plain white boy from the Midwest who grew up on a farm, but I am proud to say I speak Russian, Spanish, and the poor beginnings of French, so I have a bit of an "outsider's inside view" on this.

Also, just to make some people angry, I believe it's 'mestizo', not metiso. I'm not at all anxious to see what horrible anagram can be made from this.

Us#A sells "democracy" but it is "a Greek city state."
God the Englishman, needs slaves to keep him living in the style to which he is accustomed.
The problems begin, when the slaves show more vigour, and ability, than their inbred "superiors."

To give a short reply this happens when communities grow to larger size people have preferences so they start asseting them whenever it is possible. There are a lot of genuine cases they tese people work their guts out on low paid jobs and long hours so there is little incentive to go out and learn the language.
There is also this misconception of what we refer as AmerIndians mistakely labelled as Hispanics which of course are not and have real problems of integration but they are for all intent and purposes descendants of American Indians.

Ukranians and Russians are yet relative small in numbers (except in Canada) compared to Hispanics
I'm a Spanish speaker so probably if I move to USA may be labelled Hispanic too before Ukranian. I had no problem moving about in California or Florida and neither in NYC for my brief stay at that time I couldn't speak English much at all. However it did take me a while to make connections with the Ukie community except for Philadelphia or Cleveland.

Anyhow where I come from, Argentina the majority are of Italian and Spanish descent with a good dash of Welsh,Irish, Germans,Swiss,Austrians,Ukranians, Bielorussians, Lithuanians, Armenians and Jews(about a million Jews is the largest community in Latin America)so we probably do not fit your criteria of Hispanic label but we may still use this to lobby for political ends in your country even though Argentinians may have readily blended into society through the various long established ethnic channels Jewish,Ukranian,Armenian, Italian(lots of argies working in pizza shops in NYC), Greeks etc.

I guess it the ukranian community were large in numbers then
they would also choose to speak in their native language if that was the case. If not ask the French Canadians.

We may not like it but we probably should all learn some Spanish. The Hispanics are the largest minority and growing by leaps and bounds. I predict that in 2012 or 2016 we will see a young Republican candidate for President by the name of George Bush. He is the nephew of our current President and his mother is Hispanic. This young man has dark skin and hair. They are grooming him for the job as we speak. Why do you think the President is reforming the immigration laws?
