How could I translate this into Ukrainian?

How would I translate "a lot of" as in the following sentences?

"I would like a lot of soup,"
"Please pour me a lot of milk."

Is 'bahato' correct? Isn't that an adverb, used to modify verbs? I'm looking for an adjective.

This one has me stumped. Please help!

Kathy, first of all, thank-you for responding to my 'bahato' question. I have one more question that I wonder if you could answer for me-(I have been studying Ukrainian on my own for a year and a half now, and am doing quite well, considering seven cases!) My question is, which form of the following is in more common usage in say, the capitol Kyiv: to pronounce the word for 'I sang','spivav', or 'spivaw'? Or the word Kyiv, would you pronounce it 'Kiyw' or 'Kyiv'? Or the word for 'long', would you say 'downo',or 'dovno'?
