Yes, you are right. I also looked into the original (why haven't I done before?!) and there was no "т" in "вигратє". The mystery solved.

I can see that you have a love and flair for poetry. Which is your first language? it is difficult to tell! Your translation adds greatly to my understanding of this, there is something very satisfying in trying to 'feel' the inner meaning of the words, but my Ukrainian is poor.
Виграє - yes, my mistake, I misread it, and I see that Irene already pointed that out to me. 'vibrant optimism' is a lovely phrase Irene.
Your reference to 'old Ukrainian' is likely correct, as my uncle was born in 1927, he wrote a lot of poems and was a very warm and emotional man.
I will, when I have time, and with your words, review the translation and post again.

Ukraine just like the UK and USA has different dialects, different accents and different word applications, in different regions. Here in the States we even have a language called Ebonics, which is actually race-defined.

Wolodymir, this poem is a treasure. I think Nazar did a very nice job of maintaining the emotional tone of this treasure.
