A few words on photos

So, to whom this photo was addressed - Ania or Vania?
Was it taken in spring?
Are there any flowers or blooming trees on the photo?
I understand that none of them came back despite their promise?

Hi Irene...well, there is a Anna, and there is an Ivan. The photo is below, and as there are three girls in there and you mention 'with you' my guess is Anna. The family was born in Poland. Ivan and his brother came to England (and was my wife's father), Anna went to America, and the other girls went to the Ukraine. So, no, the family never quite reunited.

It's been a fascinating journey for me researching my wife's family. I began as a novice genealogist and probably picked the hardest of subjects given I'm in England and with all the language and cultural barriers that brings in looking at Polish/Ukrainian ancestors. But it's been worth it. And help from strangers like yourself along the way convinces me there are many more good than selfish people in the world.
