Translation assistance please

I've used Google Translate to do most of a document regarding a person who may be a relative. However Google Translate doesn't like initials of organizations and it gagged on a couple of other words. The description covers the period from the end of WWI to about 1935. Here are the words -

-вступив в лег╕он УСС.

-В пер╕од ЗУНР — четар УГА, служив ....

-перебував у ЧУГА, .....

-вояк╕в в Тухол╕.... (a town?)

-звитяжн╕сть ....

-Соловки (this is the name of a painting)

Thnaks for any help in adding meaning here.

I have the lists of Sich Riflemen and have been studying this subject for 5 years now. What is your relative's name?

вступив в лег╕он УСС. – Joined the Ukranisan Sich Riflemen's Legion

-В пер╕од ЗУНР — четар УГА, служив .... During the West Ukr. People's Republic period – Chetar* in the Ukrainian Galician Army, served ..
------
CHETAR= Cheta Commander
Structure of the Army: Riy – Cheta – Sotnia – Kurin – Brigade - Corps – Army
Sotnia consisted of 150/200 persons and included 4 chetas, each consisting of 4 roys

------
-перебував у ЧУГА, ..... was in Red Ukrainian Galician Army

-вояк╕в в Тухол╕.... (a town?) warriors in Tuchola (Polish concentration camp was located there)

-звитяжн╕сть .... valour, victorious spirit

-Соловки (this is the name of a painting) Solovky

Marvellous Irene - thank you very much!

Do you have an English equivalent to 'Solovky'?

His name was ╤ван Кучмак from the village of Zadnishivka (now absorbed into Pidvolochysk (as I understand it).

Will try to loacated the URL with the witeup for you else I can send the complete PDF file.

Further my earlier post the document referencing Ivan Kuchmak can be seen/downloaded by Googling for
"14 с╕чня last". (I can't seem to derive the URL!).

If you click on that phrase the PDF document will download although I see a "quick look" is available.

The reference to Kuchmak is on the page numbered 10 which is the 6th page down.

If your SICH list or document provides any additional details I'd be happy to see them.

Thanks again.

Hello-

I just tried it again and the page reference does come up -

Google for "14 с╕чня last" (a mixture of Cyrillic and Latin characters) and the listing will pop up- then either click on the reference to immediately dowload the document or click on the Quick View option.

Thanks for the info on Solovki.

I once came across his paintings - it seems In LYTPOPYS CHERVONOI KALYNY magazine- but can't remember now
You can write to Krakow Academy of Arts - they will send you copies of his documents
I visited them a couple of years ago and needed only 10 mins to get all the documents I wanted.
