Ukrainian Language Books???

I have had the pleasure of meeting several wonderful ukrainian's over the summer through the student work program. I am american and learned ukrainian for the entire three months of the summer and have some basic conversational things down, and a developing vocabulary. I have a dozen learning books or so and have been searching avidly for books written in ukrainian so that i might develop my pronunciation of words, vocabulary, reading ability, and basic understanding... but to no avail.

Long story short... does anyone know of any readily available novels/stories/fiction... anything with length and plain language written in the ukrainian??

I am visiting l'viv in march and would really like to improve my overall ability in the language before visitng.

** on a side note I purchased "gullivers travels" translated in ukrainian... it's on its way to me right now but one book isnt enough... im an avid reader... let me put it this way... for me there's no such thing as too many books.

I would suggest following, a kind of Ukrainian Amazon link. Start in the Children's Corner???

Ukrainian store Yevshan The largest Ukrainian on-line catalog

Also check out the heavily populated Diaspora site, also out of Canada. Many newspapers directly out of Ukraine available for
your reading enjoyment.

If you're still in the learning curve, I strongly suggest you look at the phrasebook put out by lonelyplanet.com .
The phrase is written out in english, then pronounced phoneticly in english and then written out in Ua. It covers a very wide range of subjects and has the basics of the rest.. Very much a great series for languages.

I have a slightly used one that'll be available when I return from Ua in Jan. But I'm leaving this am. Just cover postage.
PM me here.

I may even buy and send you the book (simple novels or stories) with two version- eng and ukr for the sake of ukrainian language spreading)) and hospitality. So, if you are still interested contact me and I'll send you this book for free as a present.
