What is unique about the Ukrainian language?

What makes it unique? Do we do anything that is not Russian or Polish in origin? What sets us apart?

Well, from an amateur point of view, as I cannot say that I speak perfectly in any language, Ukrainian is very soft and even erotic. But first of all, why do we say "Russian or Polish in origin"? The languages had some common ancestor and some languages developped and changed less, e.g. Russian, which reminds Old Slavic harsh dialect. Ukrainian language had some influences from its neighbors, but grew into something unique. Ukrainian is my native language, but when I hear people who mastered it in fullness, I realize how limited my word reserve is. I am hooked on listening true Ukrainian, it gives me pleasure and joy from its very beauty. It might seem odd, since native languages are usually something you forget about learning it at 3 years of age, but I discovered it anew, while being much older. Some people watch at a painting and start crying, unable to turn their eyes away from some master-piece. Well, Ukrainian language is like that for me.
I degressed from the topic you started. I know a couple of things, which come right up to my mind, about the differences:
1.) We read letter to letter of what is written, while in Russian you often read "a" even though there is "o" or "ф" instead of written "в" . We have letter "Ж", whereas in Polish they might the same sound which our letter produce express either as "rz" or "ż", which is more confusing.
2.) We have "╥", not present in any of the two.
3.) I recently found out that Ukrainian is the only Slavic language, where the infinitive ends with "-ти". All other languages of this group have hard sounding consonant endings, e.g. "робити" - to work, to do in Ukrainian as compared to "robic" in Polish and "рaботать" in Russian.
These are the came right away to my mind. I will post again with new differences.
