What language in kyiv?

What language do most people speak in Kyiv? Russian or Ukrainian? Would learning russian be enough to survive living there?

The ideal situation is if you know both. Kiev is a bilingual city. But most people are very kind and you won't have any problem speaking only Russian.
It depends on what you prefer. You will have problems with reading ( all signs are mainly in Ukrainian).

In general - it isn't a big problem. In a short time you'll understand both great languages and forget that poor English

I recommend learning Russian and learning some basic phrases in Ukrainian (zou can find it in anz travel broshure).
