Adzharia wants the world to know….
Tbilisi is crying at every corner about the democracy established in Adzharia. Not a word of truth in it!!! What we are really having is the forceful change of power in Adzharia through blackmailing and threats. Tbilisi has been always really good at it! Our leader, our president Aslan Abashidze in the most complicated situation did the single possible right choice. He gave up his post to escape bloodshed, to keep us and our children safe. But this in no case means he approves of what Saakashvili is doing!! Saakashvili’s policy is the rule of his own and not that of the law and true democracy! We are not going to live the way of life the new pro-Tbilisi political puppets will try to impose on us. We are going to oppose them in all possible way! Militarily we are no match to Tbilisi helped by ‘generous’ Americans. Yet we are determined to start the guerrilla war if needed, to hit the evil from the woods and mountains. This sort of war has proved rather effective. No to occupation regime in Adzharia!!! Adzharia wants to be free and independent and it will be!!! The Patriotic Front of Adzharia |

Saakashvili’s got Adzharia at last. What next? He promised to leave Adzharia its autonomy status.
I’d love this to be true but his deeds testify to some different possibility. Actually Saakashvili is in a hurry to place his people at the key positions to fully control both political and economic matters. Abashidze knew how to make money. Under his rule Adzharia was flourishing. It was mainly due to the lucrative Black Sea oil terminal in Batumi. The income of the terminal helped secure for Adzharia a modicum of economic stability not enjoyed elsewhere in Georgia. Now things may change drastically. At least some leading businessmen from the Swiss-based MCTrustco managing the 66 % stake in the Batumi oil terminal see the central government (guarding mostly American ‘vital interests in the region’) as ‘very aggressive’. I think Americans may well take over this highly-profitable business. This means that not only Adzharia but the rest pare of Georgia as well will be left with nothing. Not Georgia but America will be in the benefit. The further course of events is no brainer. Adzharians used to high living standards under Aabashidze are going to take to the streets. Forceful Saakashvili will ‘have to’ take tough measures to set the situation. That’ll be the end of the autonomy in Adzharia. |
