If you have seen my thread "Price of Religious Folly" I think you will find an empathy with your comment above. I was brought up as a Protestant Christian. Now in my autumn years I cannot accept that we are all evolved from nothing more than the "Big Bang" that gave rise to the universe and everything within it. I wish to hang on to the belief of a divine God, the creator of all things. I attended a church service recently in England. There was a small congregation and the majority of the assembly were elderly. Although the hymns sung where in my own language I found the verse archaic and incromprehensible in part. A teenager would have derived even less from this and the sentiment completely lost. It dosen't surprise me that whilst the traditional churches lose their attendance appeal, the "happy clappy" or charismatic churches are increasing their congregation with their more joyous and modern approach.
As for the strengthening Islamic religion in Europe, I believe that this is not just due to their increase in numbers through migration, but is as alternative to their perception of living amongst a so called "Christian" society where alcohol abuse, lack of respect for others, drug addiction and criminality are far too common.
