Outsourcing Video chat to Russia and the Ukraine

I am an American university researcher - who is interested in human rights and labor questions in Eastern Europe.
I have been looking into the outsourcing of internet services to Russia and the Ukraine -including video-chat studios that service "virtual sexual tourists" from North America and Western Europe.
So far I have identified about 40 video chat studios in about 10 different Ukrainian cities that work for many different European and American websites.

Of course, of all the evils the sex industry can bring, being a cam model is the least of them all - since it's a sexual performance done at long distance.

But I am concerned that so many of your University students seem to be doing this as a part-time or summer job.

Any information on the growth of this industry across the Ukraine would be most appreciated.
You are welcome to see what we have learned so far by looking at our information website and cam-model forum at http://camgirlnotes.15.forumer.com/
Thanks for your cooperation
Uncle Lewis

Hello. This is a respectable forum and there is no need to pimp out your services here. I have been to your site and i must say, quite a disguise.

Don't be an Idiot...
The site is what it is.. an information center...
and a discussion circle for people who are generally appalled by what's happening online.

Video Chat is an underground industry in the Ukraine

Okay Digital...Let's go over this one more time...

For your information, cam-models who work for the dozens of Ukrainian web-cam studios almost always claim to be Czechs, Lativians, Russians or Slovaks when they appear on line - anything but Ukrainian...And the video chat websites they work for are not accessible to web-surfers with an Ukrainian ISP number. They can not be seen anywhere from within the Russian Federation or the Ukraine without the use of a proxy. This invisibility within Russia and its "near abroad" is one of safeguards given to cam-models who are promised total anonymity when they work. They only appear online to their Western customers.

So then Digital, why would publicizing the existence of an semi-legal, underground video chat industry that wishes to keep its very presence in the Ukraine a closely held secret - along with the location of its studios in major Ukrainian cities - be interpreted by you as an attempt to recruit more models for it?

Well, we have indeed posted on line some in-house documents from the video chat industry that we were sent to us by Cam-models. And perhaps this is the source of some confusion for you.

These documents include a Models Manual from one of the bigger American websites - along with translations of Internet ads and FAQ's from two of the bigger Russian Model Agencies...We think they make for interesting reading because they clearly explain what Web-studio owners expect of their models not only in terms of sexual performance but the "emotional deception" and manipulation of their clients - as well as tell us the kinds of job benefits they promise to the students they seek to recruit as "virtual sex performers." These documents allow people outside the sex industry to understand better the full meaning and impact of doing "sexual and emotional labor" on line.

Obviously, Digital, in-house, company documents like these were never meant for general circulation to people like you outside the sex industry - or to be brought to the attention of a broader, English speaking audience.

Anyway what would be the sense of translating Russian language documents intended for Russian speaking men and women as a recruitment ploy for Russian web masters?

So we are a little mystified as to how drawing attention to the growth of this industry across Eastern Europe - and the banalization of porn work in student milieux - could be seen by you as an thinly disguised attempt to promote the very industry it exposes?

We would invite you, Digital to re-read the introduction to this forum - "What this forum hopes to accomplish". And then if you still have a problem, leave a comment in our Guest Book. And maybe consider restoring the link?

But given the sensitivity of the topic, please excuse us if we don't choose to broadcast our academic affiliations or personal information at this time.

Thanks
Uncle Lewis

P.S. the point of my original post was not to "spam" a web-site, or advertise jobs for the global internet sex industry
Rather it was based more on the principle "that light disinfects.." and to get some feedback about how a big a deal this industry really is in the Ukraine? How many Studios? How many young men and women working in it as "computer operators?

A few hundred? Or maybe more like thousands...?

So is being a video-chat hostess a marginal niche occupation that only effects a handful of sexual deviants?

Or are we looking at something - banalization of porn acting and virtual sex work - that's a major trend? And how does it fit into the larger pattern of trafficking of Ukrainian and Russian youth by the Western sex industries?

Maybe we can agree that those are issues that are would worth further discussion?

I can see that i am not the only one who have doubts about your claim to research. But we are going to give you the benefit of the doubt nonetheless, upon reading your more consise explanation - and also restore the link to your forum. I have a question though: Why do you choose to remain anonymous?

Well Digital.. I have been warned by other American researchers who work on Russia - and issues dealing with trafficking and transnational crime, in particular - that what we are doing is a bit dangerous and not only to us but most of all to any cam-models who are acting as our informants...
So we are being careful about identity questions in public places.
But Digital I would be more than happy to email u a personal letter of introduction But where to? here?
