Benda, did you make any reference to my post? Your answer is not clear to me.
Hi Dobko, I have been immersed in history again for more than a week. Really, a Swedish plague in XVIIth century Poland was almost like Egyptian plagues. The Sedish "deluge" hit the country right after Khmyelnitski's rebellion so it only added to the damage. Do not forget that Khmyelnitski had his (paid) agents in Poland like Kostka Napierski who tried to convince Polish peasants that they should also kill their masters. Fortunately, he was caught, sentenced and hung quickly.
We made a lot of jokes with my American guests on betting before entering ruins of castle: was that one also destroyed by the Swedes? The answers was usually: YES with one exception. Huge Yanowiec castle was lost in a gamble by an addicted owner and pillaged like Roman Colloseum. What a pity, because even its remains are really beautiful.
