I recommand you the positions written by Ucrainian histrocian: Victor Poliscuk. He lives now in Canada, but revealing UPA's crimeas didn't contribute to his popularity in Ucrainian emmigrants circles.

No, I havn't confused the mentionned organisations. UPA's activity mostely limited to the extermination of Polish and Jews population on eastern partes of Poland.
Many historians (Ucrainian included) reported it.

I think you are getting confused with the Ukrainian Division Halicia.
They were however, absolutely exonerated of any war crimes by all the allies.

Bartosz, I wasn't therea dmittedly, but I would hazard a guess that you weren't either. UPA activities were NOT the extermination of Jews & Poles, that is an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. There aims were a free and independant Ukraine. Where are you getting your historical information from? Could you please give the references, particularly the Ukrainian historians. The UPA killed many people in there attempt to free Ukraine, but singling out Poles is ridiculous. As far as the Jewish issue goes Ukraine, like all eastern European countries should and does hang it's head shame for any collaboration with the nazis. Have you not seen Baba-Ya? Are the Poles free from the stain of collaboration with the holocaust?
Moscow saw the Ukrainian nationalists, both the UPA and the OUN as a dire threat and produced much Soviet propaganda blackening them especially Bandera who was falsely accused of crimes against both Poles and Jews. This is a fact.
If we could be less hysterical we could learn something from each other.

I look forward to your reply.

Take care.

Vlas.

Hi.

"Could you please give the references, particularly the Ukrainian historians."
-
the pleasure is mine. Start with the following positions of Victor Polistshuk:
'Bitter Turth' and 'Action Vistula'. You will not like that.

"UPA activities were NOT the extermination of Jews & Poles, that is an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. "
-
sorry to hear that my modest opinion [not only mine] upset you, but how to name extermination only of 500.000 Poles on Wolyn, exterminated by UPA? I don't mention about Jews. The position of your compatriote will get you closer to these events.

"There aims were a free and independant Ukraine. "
-
by extermination of all minorities.

"The UPA killed many people in there attempt to free Ukraine, but singling out Poles is ridiculous. "
-
Why? They were the most numerous victims.

"Moscow saw the Ukrainian nationalists, both the UPA and the OUN as a dire threat and produced much Soviet propaganda blackening them especially Bandera who was falsely accused of crimes against both Poles and Jews. "
-
the problem is that Ucrainian [ultra]nationalists did everything to confirm this theory.

"Are the Poles free from the stain of collaboration with the holocaust?"
-
no, they aren't. But remember that half of awarded by Yad Vashem are Poles[who often for helping Jews were betrayed by their Ucrainian neighbours], not Ucrainians.

"If we could be less hysterical we could learn something from each other."
-
once you will have trye to explain me the origins of understanding by you some notions.

Kisses

Surely folks were congratulating one to each other they succeded in escaping from interantional low.Taking under account the scale of commited by UPA crimes on civil population, number of celebrating anniversaries UPA's veterans is really impressive. But remember, that most of responsible for massacres in Rwanda haven't been punished up til now yet... Some regularity??
