Two neighbouring nations for centuries coexisted, mostly peacefully, sometimes waging ther wars.
Both sides commited many crimes, that make difficult reconciliation similar to this between Poles and Germans.

Welcome!

The first question: what do you think about the works of Ukrainian historian Wiktor Poliszczuk?

Thumbs up

Great topic Bartosz, but you're asking for a whole heap of trouble from Diaspora Ukrainians.

People can't put the past behind them, or maybe don't want to. A divided Europe keeps extremist in positions of power.

I hope this topic takes off.

Stepan.

Hello Stepan! Nice to meet you.

Let me introduce myself: I'm from Poland, I come from Przemyœl (Peremysl in Ucrainian) in Eastern Malopolska (Zakierzonye in Ucrainian), but at present I live in Wroc³aw (I don't what is its equivalent in Ucrainian). In the region I live in is numerous Ucrainian society (the Lemks that were forced to leave their homes in the result of the 'Wisla ' action in 1952.

I'm missing of the similar way of treating the history as Germans and Poles use to do in their common relationships.

I'm afraid that I'll have to make a break: today I'm going abroad (late summer holidays), where I don't forsee to have the access to the internet. I'll be back in two weeks. See you next time.

Cool

Hi Batosz,

I'm from England, I was born in a small town near Birmingham. My grandparents are from what is now west Ukraine, but to them it will forever be Poland. For me nationality is quite confusing. I'm British my parents are of Jewish origin which makes me a Jew but where is their home town? Ukraine or Poland?
We'll pick this up on your return. I'm living in Poland. I'll mail you where when we've chatted a bit more.

I still hope some other people will have something to say.

Stepan.

Cool

I would love to join in, but I don't see the discussion here... You must present a view of something, where you will find your allies and enemies... what can I say now? Nothing more than "okay...and?"

Good luck to everybody!
Stas
