I immigrated to U.S.A.in 1986 from S.Africa. It was indeed one of the saddest events in my life as I was leaving a country that I deeply loved. It was difficult for me to leave my relatives and friends and then move into a strange land. Two years earlier I met an American girl who would later become my wife. She came to S.Africa to see the land and meet my family. However, I did not tell my family that I
would be leaving S.Africa and then marrying the American. We were a very close family and each of my four sisters live in other towns but close to me.We often visited each other. I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin (USA). I am not a U.S. citizen as yet. Why? I have this inexplicable bond with S.Africa and hate to lose my citizenship of S.Africa.Quite often I meet a number of people from Ukraine and Russia. They tell me how bad it has become in these two republics. One of the boys I met described how the Maffia has taken over the country and how the police do nothing to help people. His father was so scared to tell the people who lived around them that he was selling the house as the Maffia would demand the money from the sale of the house. Ukrainians and Russians that came to U.S.A. are very hardworking and they would be an asset to any country that takes them. I am very interested in communism and as a little boy I had this desire to live in U.S.S.R. But my racist white government did not allow anybody to go to USSR. If one dod go and they came to know of it, they would not allow the person to come back into the country. I would be glad if somebody told me more about life in Russia and Ukraine. Thanks Logan |

you'd better be happy, you didn't go to USSR.and your white racist government was totally right not allowing to go there.
that's very sad that there are so many ignorant people in the West who have no idea what communism was, what atrocities communists commited and don't know the scale of poverty in former communist countries. |
