After giving this some time to thing about, I have decided who, in my mind , is the most influential person in history. It was a toss up between Gutenberg and Newton. Newton did more for science then anyone. Binomial expansion, calculus, laws of gravitation, mechanics, laws of motion,optics,etc...but without the printing press, Newton would not had access to past knowledge to discover these things. So, my answer is Gutenberg. Anyone disagree? Why? and who would your answer be?

Hi Steve,
There are thousand of individuals who've in one way or another moved this planet along, but for our modern age I think the most important person is Charles Babbage. He invented the first computer the Difference Engine (well his wife, Byron's daughter, turned it from an adding machine into a computer).
Without him would be using email? I Know there's loads of more important people out there, but the Ukie in me always loves the unsung hero.
Vlas.

Greetings,
Actually, it was a Hungarian immigrant by the name of Laszlo Nagy. Shortly after he came to America, he moved to Florida. This was in the early 1920s. At that time the alligator population in Florida was totally
out of control and the alligators were moving
north into Alabama and Georgia and South Carolina and further and further north. Being Hungarian he was a brave soul. Soon he was known as the brave Hungarian alligator hunter. He was given the job by the US government to get the alligators under control. Which he did. Now,- why is he the most influential? He alone kept us from being up to our butt-hole in alligators.
Now you know.

Yes....due to the fact that Christianity has had a huge following...i think second most popular religion and has had the greatest impact of any major religion, Jesus would be on top of the list. I think Buddahists out number Christians due to the fact China has more people then anyone and they consider themselves Buddahists. If I am wrong, let me know.
