Nationalism is still alive and well I see!

Petro, do you live in Russia?

And BlueandGold, what country are you in?

I am in America, originally from Russia. I have alot of Ukrainian blood but I consider all East Slavs to be one people.
BlueandGold is somewhere in North America and is an agressive Ukrainian nationalist, despite the fact that he can't even speak Ukrainian.

Well, I find your spats amusing. Petro, the photo you use on your posts, have you ever seen it for sale as a photograph? I know it's a famous picture but in my somewhat sheltered existence I never really noticed it. I'd love a framed version.

It's probably around somewhere. Check ebay with any combination of the words "berlin", "reichstag", "1945" and "soviet" and it should come up. Either that or search for it on google and print it out on photo paper. It's up to you.
It's only famous in the former USSR - in America few people know of it.

BlueAndGold, the links and articles you provide are nothing more but Ukrainian nationalist propaganda that sometimes successfully influences many people, especially in nationalist western Ukraine and amongst Ukrainian foreign communities.
Fact is that during the war both bolsheviks and banderiviets were sometimes wearing each other's uniforms-UPA often wore stolen red star uniforms, killed Poles and vice versa.
Fact is that UPA's genocide on Poles met silent permission of Germans and Soviets.Nazis wanted to divide Slavs against each other and colonize massacred empty spaces.Bolsheviks had the similar purposes as UPA-wanted to get rid of Poles and create Soviet Ukraine without them.
During cold war there was silence in Poland about UPA,because USSR wanted communist countries and their nations to stay united, considering that many leaders of OUN worked for the CIA after the war.
Polish researches(not Russian propaganda) tell the total number from 100,000 to 500,000 of Poles murdered by UPA and other structures however it's hard to estimate because plenty of villages were surrounded and slaughtered to the last one person without witnesses.

Schure,if you want information you should meet not only Ukrainian vets but those who fought against them like Polish civilian self defence members,Hungarian soldiers,Russians as well.from what i know Ukrainian vets say the same cynic things about their brave as sites brought by BlueAndGold.

Yes, it's so difficult to get the "real" story. But then you start realizing there is no real story; it's really just a bunch of individual stories that create a bigger picture.

I would absolutely love to talk with vets from all the countries you listed. The problem is, I'm having a hard time finding even one vet!

How could the Soviets do that if they weren't even there?
Plus, after the war the Red Army and the Polish army destroyed the UPA together. To hide their crimes the UPA apologists claimed after the war that much of what they did was done by "Soviets dressed as UPA", and shifted the rest of the blame to the Armia Krajowa. These allegations can't be proven and, given the UPA's track record, they aren't very believable anyway.
