How about Mikhail Shemyakin. He became very famous in the US. There's his statue standing in front of some state university (i don't remember which one).

Yeah, good name. They're everywhere! By the way, Bill, I actually thought the Shevchenko of soccer fame was Taras, also, like the author/poet. Hence, I was seeking info on posters about the soccer star, not the poet. Little confusion there. 0:

Sowders, there are a lot of good and famous Ukrainian artists. A.P. Atsmanchuk lived until the mid-1970s or so; I think M.I. Krivenko is still alive, but quite old; P.A. Levchenko enjoyed international acclaim until his death in 1912. Their works can be found in the Odessa Art Museum. I'm avoiding mention of the "Soviet style" artists, with an exception: Leonid Muchnik painted the famous rendering of Potemkin sailors bringing ashore the body of Vakulenchuk, the mutiny ringleader. It's also in Odessa.

Hello John,
The Shevchenko from Football fame is either:
Andrei, Andrii, Andreas, Andy, Andre, Andrey
or Andras. He has been called all of those names but never Taras. Taras had another GIG.
