I agree and disagree. I Agree because Russia played a "bad" role in our history, that is why it could get pretty nationalistic here. And I disagree because Russia is not the only thing in Ukrainian history. And why should it get "angry" ?[This message has been edited by StasUA (edited 02 January 2000).] |

No reason for hate, ever. The bloodlines have been pretty well mixed over the years. I saw what the nationalists did in Ukraine after Independence. There's a testy kinship that can't really be severed. We've been working pretty hard at keeping the peace, and joining the rest of the world. Russia's not pulling any stunts on Ukraine right now. No reason for nationalistic hate.

Greetings,
AMEN to that Brother John. As a Hungarian I have as much right to hate the Russians as anybody, but I don't. I hope that nobody does. Life has been rough on the Russian people. I hope that the new leadership and the New Year brings them some fulfillment. I am sorry for being late: Happy New Year!!! |

You are correct, no reason to hate. Yes there are nationalists znd communists that still call for a united soviet union, and they might harbor some ill will for Ukrainians. Most Russians are freindly, hard working, and to busy trying to survive with the crumbling Russian economy. The evidence of the Soviet policies is all over eastern Europe, from Hungary to Ukraine to Romania and beyond. |
