Greetings Stas,
I was not much older than you, when I came here. I was alone, and did not have a very good reason for being here. Nothing political anyway. I heard that the streets were paved with gold and the girls were easy. For me that was enough. As it turned out, I gave up my family for a mirage. Not to bore you to death, you are lucky. You have your family with you. Use that as a foundation to create your own world. Get a good education, make some good friends, learn the different ways people live and do things. When you are finished with your education, you will have a choice to make. You can stay here permanently and visit Ukraine as often as you can, or move back to Ukraine and visit the USA whenever the spirit moves you. In other words hang in, make the best out of a poor situation. Honor your parents, even though you do not agree with everything they do. Good Luck to YOU. |

First: Phil, ya gotta quit calling me Johnson.
Bill: I've got some stories to share with you. You said something in your reply to Stas almost exactly as I would have said it, and it was something I was afraid to say in my reply to Stas. And I just decided I ain't gonna tell ya here what it was. Just: We have some stories to share, I know. Phil again: Right on! You make gentle good sense. Stas: Listen to the grownups. We're just old kids, honest. We really DO understand. It's all going to turn out just fine. WBR, John |

Sorry John,
I think my brain has gone haywire. Anyhow - my gentle sense was not so gentle before my edit. I was too personal with my psycho-analysing so I just left the encouraging part in. Stas has a learnt alot of things far before his time. I think he would do well do get into the habbit of keeping his thoughts in check because that is what maturity is about. Anyhow I will refrain from picking on ya Stas, but you should take note the things people on this board are saying - the older the better, because in all the important things in life there is no substitute for life experienes. Cheers, Phillip |

Stas, you don't know how clever and right they are! Life ain't be beutiful and nice as long as you don't try to make it work that way!
Oh, boy, smile sometimes! You're so young and you've got lots of things to do in the future! Some more optimism! Love you, Beata |

Stas, I understand you very well. I live here in Spain without friends, my family live in another places of the world,... But I use this forum to speak with somebody from Ukrain, and it make my life easear.
Marina, if it is important, Im 39 years old. My English is awful (you can say me all mistakes I have), and I prefer a Forum in Ukrain... But the people in this one is wonderful, and I have a pleasure to read his postings every day. About language - I think that Ukrain is in danger. There are a possibility of assimilation. Im afraid that our language is one of the 3000 that can dissapeared in this century. |

Dear Marina.
I've been off-line a while and when I came back there were some things that upset me. I'm 19 years old if you really wish to know. I studied Ukrainian and Russian history first in school, then in University and I'm confident about things that I write on the board (most of the time). Also... YOU GOT ME TOTALLY WRONG. I have no hate for Russia, and I think you could notice that I opposed Stas at this all the time. You run into decisions without understanding the situation, just like a little overwhelmed girl who wants to be heard. About going out and having real live friends: I'm absolutely sure that you will never even dream about such good friends that I have everywhere I went: Ukraine, Colorado, Washington (don't want to look like I'm proud of myself or something, but what I say is true). I have many good friends and a whole bunch of ****y ones, but I also really like to spend time on the internet. I do. There are people who do it because they don't have anything else to do, but I really like it, and I wish I had more time to spend here. I like this forum, but my life is really full right now, so don't be so excentric just because you left the forum for couple of weeks, like you have better life than someone else on this board. I am the one who has a better life than someone else, understood?? ![]() To Stas: If it'll make you feel a little bit better- I miss Ukraine and all related to it more than anything in the world. Here in the US I speak either Russian or English with people from different communities: Armenians, Chechens, Russians, Georgians, Latvians etc. Russian language unite us, but I want to speak Ukrainian, and I don't care that to some people it is a silly looking language. To you guys: you guys are so sweet, a real family. I just hope that what Marina said here was her bad day or smth. What was it MARINA??? wbr...
