Greetings,
So,- we now have two extremes, Stas who loves
Ukraine and hates the USA and Zehnya who hates Ukraine and loves the USA. I hope that both of you will detect the warmth that I have in my hearth for you. Some of the things I am about to say, you will probably not like, but here it goes anyway.
It is too bad that youth is wasted on the young. The passion you both are showing would
be better directed if it was used to understand the world around you.
Stas, history is replete with PATRIOTS who
became famous while away from their home. The experience they gained in foreign lands
was put to good use upon their return to the
Motherland. I urge you to do the same. Make good use of the educational system here. Learn about the economy, the good and the bad. Absorb as much as you can. When the time is right, you too can help your people.
Zehnya,- you on the other hand should be less
vitriolic about your Motherland. It is easy
to be taken in by the material aspects of the
USA. It is also true that the American People
are warm and good hearted. Yet, this is not
our Motherland. I am much further into my life, I have children and grandchildren. In other words, I have created my own little world. All of these things mean a lot to me. Still, my life would be not nearly as fulfilled if I could not spend time in the Motherland every year. While I am not retired, my station in life allows me to take 2-3 months off. More and more of this time is spent in Hungary and Germany. I am not old fashined, but relatives, friends and memories mean a lot to me. I hope that one day, you will learn to cherish them too.
Good Luck.

Whoa, Bill, there's another Zhenya, the Zhenya2000 on another board, and he is the one that hates Ukraine. OUR Zhenya has an equilibrium, a sharp and accurate wit, and merely misses Ukraine. The other one, Zhenya2000, is a young and unhappy Ukrainian who would like to emigrate. He's still there. OUR Zhenya is in Seattle, and may or may not share some of the same opinions. He does a good job of speaking for himself.

Your words of wisdom stand, however.

To OUR Zhenya: Sto gram? Nye za chto. Na zdorovye.

Greetings Zehnya,
I regret that I confused you with Zehnya 2000
It did not sound like you, but people do change their positions at times.
Zehnya 2000 - If my posting would be useful
information to you, welcome.

Jm, this Zhenya2000 live in Ukrain and hate it? I am affraid than when he will in US or in another country he will hate it too. We want to live in the country like ours, but better. I mean that we have our life and we get accustomed to it. In abroad all is different. Not only those things we would like to change. Eg, here in Spain I live in the old building without heating. It is a North of Spain, so sometimes during the winter the temperature outside can fall to -5C. But my husband dont understand me, he says that it isnt so cold! Etc, etc, etc. There are a lot of things like this. So Zhenya2000 will be happy the first time. Than he will miss souered cream, pirogi, heating or something els.

Another thing, about Putin. Some words of this person make me affraid about the future of Ukrain. I have read here in Internet that mr.Putin says that the principal nation of Russia is Russian, and they will fight for the values of this nation, etc. Can you imagine eg. Clinton saying that the principal nation of the US are Anglo-Saxons, etc., etc.??? So, the national politic of the Russia nowadays is Russian chauvinism. Can it be dangerous for our country now?

Thank you, John, you are very kind to me saying that my English is all right.

Phil, I thought that Putin (isnt yet president) is of Russia, but will be a president of Russians, Tartars, Bashkirs, etc. Or do you think that Clinton is the president of Anglo-Saxons, but not of Ital-Americans, Afro-Americans, indians, etc.??? Ops...

I've read some transcripts of Putin's speeches. The reference to Russians is inclusive rather than exclusive, much the way that the Soviet Union spoke inclusively. That is, all those in Russia are considered Russian regardless of ethnic type. He is saying that all within its borders must behave as Russians, for the good of Russia. He has stated that Russia's strength lies in its diversity, and ability to accommodate diversity. So if you are Chechen, behave like Russian and you're okay. Behave like Afghan tool, and you have a problem. I still believe he has a lot to offer. We'll have to wait and see.
