It was once commented that in high-school my hair looked "orange"(which is really the reddish-brown coming out), although it's dark brown. This was so because light from the outside(the artificial lights may have helped) made my hair colour "luminous". I can distantly recall my father or some other people saying my hair was orange. Often, at certain times of day, this is noticeable, but I find it hard to see in direct, open, sunlight usually outside. I've also unfortunately noticed some partial-Slav Ukrainian women colour their hair auburn to veneer the dullness of their real colour.

So the same theory that "rusava"(auburn) refers to the alleged (Viking?) founders of Rus, can appropriately be applied to Slavs, as Germanics supposedly don't have auburn hair.
