I agree. May Hitler and Stalin burn in hell together along with all the other evil rulers. I think this topic can be closed, being that we have all come to an agreement.

In that case, let's close on a note of good cheer: Season's Best to all of you. I enjoy reading your thoughts and sharing once in awhile. There are some exceptional people here.

Hitler killed around 10 million in concentration camps, and caused WWII, in which 70 million died altogether. On the other hand, Stalin starved to death 20 million Ukrainian farmers. Both were wicked, but I wonder, which one the most evil?

What do you think?

Swede,
20 million? Nah the real number is more like 3 million or lower according to demographers. Remember Ukraine's population back then was around 25 to 35 million. (Also Remember West-Ukranie was part of Poland until WW2)

Simple logic states the Red Army couldnt mobilize 5 million Ukrainian solders during WW2 if the Ukrainian base was decimated to that degree. To say nothing of getting them to fight well.

Hitler certainly had plans to expand his Empire right up to the Urals & Baku in the south start wiping out the Slavs after the Jewish problem had been delt with of course, still he lost before he put his plan into action.

I vote Hitler, due to the fact Russians seem to like Stalin.

Remember that the Soviet Union has fallen apart in a relatively peaceful manner in 1991, while the end of Third Reich was much quicker, enormously more violent and ended in occupation of entire Germany, etc etc. Russians still have the effects of communist brainwashing in their minds, while the Germans have been de-brainwashed in this aspect.

If Hitler would win the war, then his image would be much more positive in Germany, but it would not make him a better man.

IMO, comparing those two is like comparing two serial psychopatic murderers - let's say one murdered 40 people and the other murdered 60 - despite the difference in numbers, it's basically the same category - "dangerous beast", or something like that.

3 milion ? According to which demographers ? The great hunger killed at least 20 milion ( of course not in Ukraine alone ) Russians like Stalin but thats mainly because an average russian joe is an indoctrinated moron who knows very little of what actuall history was like, even today Russia has its own comfortable version of history rather than a string of criminals and tyrants it really had.

Yes, but as has been said most deaths were in Ukranie and Soviet Ukranie's total population was only about 30 million and if you add the war time deaths etc. (Even taking into account Weston Ukraine getting annexed from Poland) That would mean if 20 million died the former USSR's ethnic Ukrainian population would be much lower than it’s it today, it's simple logic.

Yes, however Germany for most of it's post Holy Roman Empire history Germany was a patchwork of city states and petty Kingdom’s the two biggest were Prussia and Austria who competed the unite Germany under their own banner Prussia won, and Austria wound up craving out an Empire in the Balkans.

However Austria remained ethnically, culturally and linguistically German, and aftier their Empire's collapse post-WW1 Pan-German ideas became popular, plus Hitler joined the German Army during WW1 and Austria became part of the Nazi Reich voluntarily. So in summery Hitler getting to power wasnt all that odd he was basically German.
