Howdy to all, I am one of those persons who is intreagued by History, and more specifically, WWII. Ever since I saw WWII movies and commentaries and took World History class, I have been fascinated by the story of WWII and it's intricacies. I wonder, for example, what would have been the outcome of the war if Germany had simply not attacked Russia and remained strong allies with her, in order to toople the valiant thundering Yankees. What if, what if, what if...I think Adolf may have controled Europe if he had not done attacked his strongest allie. How could have the Yankees dealt with and conquered that tremendous tie of powers? Maybe it would'nt have been possible. What do you think? Swede, |

Hey NZman, Good citation. One must remember that it took 3 yrs. or so for the U.S. to build just two nuke-bombs, and would have taken considerably long for them to build enough to take out Germany. Additionally, if Germany remained tied to strong Russia, Hitler may have been able to make a nuke-bomb by the time the Yanks did, given that the Yanks would not have been able to conquer Germany with such a tie, at least at the time in which they did. Even if Hitler was not able to make a bomb by the time or near after the Yanks did, a coulpe nukes on a couple cities would'nt end the war. Swede, |

18/m/Sacramento, California, U.S.A.(father is Swede/mother is American but has 50% Norweigen blood). True. That's what I've seen in the movies, man. But the T.V. History Channel gives you a more balanced perspective. |

While this number is relatively small compared to the staggering losses suffered by the Soviet and Chinese forces, it's still substantial. Just out of curiosity, home much casualties did Iceland suffer? |

What would have happened?
It is a very hard question. I think Great Britain sooner or or later would have been forced to negotiate with the Germans for peace. The Swastika would be all over Europe at the present time. Or..... What has never been proved and only speculation, Stalin would have attacked Germany from the East. But Hitler's original aim was to take down the SU and create living space for his "aryan" nation. Hitler indeed was very concerned about the great developements he saw the SU achived in the thirties. "We give them 5-10 more years and they will surpass us" - He said. So Hitler was running out of time. What did Stalin say in 1931? It is interesting. "We are hundred years behind the West. We have to make it up or they will crush us". Best Regards: Vorosilov |

Where's the moose????
Hiya voro, good to see you over here. As for Stalin's alleged plans to attack first, I transcribed some of Eddy Radzinsky's bio of Stalin where he makes this case, if your interested:
http://www.ukraine.com/forums/showth...4&pagenumber=2 I think he's probably right. I think you are right about GB. The British "establishment" were livid with Churchill's opposition to Hitler before the war, and Hitler thought that the UK would pull out of the war, in exchange for a German guarantee of the security of the British Empire. Another question: Would the USA have joined in the fight against Hitler had Germany not declared war on them? ![]() ![]() |
