hello iridium, nothing could be further from the truth that old rick has irish ancestry he only makes a claim for this but his claim is very false, in fact his ancestry is both scotts and english. old rick would last a day in ireland where we put a very high regard on courtesy, tolerance, common manners and all the rest of it to make interaction between people run as smoothly as possible. I know this as i have to practice such manners daily and it costs nothing

yes i agree, tolerance of all views is a necessary requirement, and i try daily to fulfil this heavy requirement and see how important it is. This tolerance is the difference between slaves and free men. good luck

Dear Iridium,
I am really sorry for your misunerstanding me. I just want to tell that in ALL THE SOVIET REPUBLICS it was obligatory to learn in schools native language. In Moldavia-moldavian, in Ukraine- Ukrainian, in Litva-lithuanian and so on. BUT I never told that everybody in other republics learned ukrainian. It is a mistake and if you were not so passionate you would easily understand me. |

zhuk,
what you said is "But: how can you explain then that students living in Ukraine or any other soviet republic had to study ukrainian language and literature in school or college." i actually wasted my time and copied that from a threat on page 1. and how about your statement that 30% people refuse to read ukrainian or that there are no business terms in ukranian? completely false. now, to what you said in your last message. i think it's inane for people not to study the language of the republic in which they lived in, ukrainian in ukraine, moldavian in moldova and so on, those are individual countries have their own roots, language and history. what i think is rediculous is that in all those countries kids were REQUIRED to learn russian and russian literature. ever thought of a little kazakstanian kid trying to learn russian? at least for ukrianians it would be a little easier or for moldovians, or even for a moskal' to learn ukrainian. soviet union was a scam plotted up by russia, they tolerated nothing that wasn't russian and took everything from everyone. yet you expect sympathy from all those nations in return. that is why you have nationalists not only in ukraine but in every of the 13 other republics that came out of soviet union that hate russians specifically and throw them out of their countries. i wonder why. yet you sit here and say "equallity for all people" let the past be in the past and blah blah blah. i don't think those people will forget anytime soon what the russians have been doing to them for over 70 years, and i don't think the russians are going to get any respect for at least another 70 years out of those "nationalists". C/\ABA YKAPAIHI! |

1. Conserning the study of National language in the previous Soviet Republics. - I was mentioned that not because I consider it wrong. On the contrary-it is necessary. But I wanted to stress that EVEN in USSR children have to study their own language. So they had good opportunity to develop their own culture. And in each prestigeouse High Education University was certain limit for the students of local origin (for example moldavian or kazachstan NOT LESS THAN some persentage in the all amount of students). And sometimes for a russian speaker was harder to enter University in Moldavia or Georgia. So it was not too bad as it paints your relatives.
2. If you are so good in Ukrainian may be you will help me with several terms in Ukraine -how to translate "Comission Agreement", helicopter, leasing and аммортизация основных фондов предприятия, целевые фонды, валовые расходы and so on. 3. And the last I want to tell you is that you have spent just 10 or 12 years in the Soviet Union and I succeded to spent there some 23-25 and have seen not only the bad sides of it. |
