NORRYM, first, I accept your explanation. It curious to note though, that your less than diplomatic manner (my opinion only) seem to irritate quite a few people...

Second, regarding the purpose of this forum, it's major purpose may be to debate the issues of the day. However, it's also suitible for the simple sharing of information between like minded individuals. Peace

Dear Irinka,

Most interesting. Thanks for the insight! This is exactly the type of information I was hoping to find. I had no idea that there are groups such as the ones you met who have maintained such a high degree of Ukrainian cohesiveness after so many years.

karanga was the railway crossing point from west to east
where millions were forcibly transfered for one reason or no reason right across the ussr. solzinitzyn in his book the gulag relates of these hardships during stalinst times
when this despot ruled with the help of the nkvd
some ukranians who emigranted to britain after the war were forcefully sent back to the ukraine in the full knowledge of the british government that they were being sent to their deaths...johncullen
