There are lies dam lies and statistics. When given by a Pol nationalist it's better to take them with a kilo of salt.
You'll have a great ally here for Russian - Ukrainian integration, that'll be the best way for Poland to get part of their lost empire back. Vlas. Bartosz, Where is North Corea? Is it any where near Sweden? What are Fog signals? Do you mean Smoke signals? Your home town must be very backward if you're using smoke signals as an alternative to mobile telephony. I run the office in your country too. Come for a job, I need someone to clean our toilets, the amount of crap you write should make you more than qualified ![]() [Edited by steve_vlasenko on 15th February 2001 at 13:20] |

I have been reading the ongoing debates here with some interest ...
While I am not Ukrainian - I have an uncle who is - I can't resist the urge to observe (maybe due to some of my own ethnic sensitivities), that ONLY a pan-Slavist, Russian apologist or victim of Bolshevik brainwashing, it seems to me, would contend there is no difference between Russians and Ukranians! Ethnic identity is a function of culture as much as heredity, it seems, which would strongly support, I believe, the notion of Ukrainian separateness. I have ALWAYS known my uncle as Ukranian, NOT Russian, through I grew up when the former still was dominated by the latter. And, in the ethnically diverse town where I grew up - I also have an aunt who is Russian - people were sticklers with regards to their (mostly Eastern European) ethnic backgrounds, and there was never a question that Ukranians and Russians were NOT the same ethnically! Finally, it seem to me that it is for Ukranians to determine whether the distinction between "The Ukraine" and "Ukraine" is meaningful, based on cultural and historic issues important to them, not outsiders! |

Rusnak,
First of all I would like to thank you for making me smile everyday this is a very funny topic indeed.1.) Why wasn't there an economical grow in a beginning of this year in United States? Wrong thinking? Hehe... 2.) I think that you should ask your cousins why do they think they are what they are, why are you putting certain individuals under a "whole-nation-view" ? 3.) I have lived most of my life in Ukraine, and have I never heard of a "Rusyn" nationality, which is a majority also If you would like to "discuss" with us issues concerning Ukraine, I think it would be for your own benefit that you learn at least the little bit of Ukraine. http://www.infoukes.com/history/ -> Is an excellent introductionary site, to a history of Ukraine. Also if you crave to argue about who or what is the reason of Ukrainian unsuccession in economical matters, I suggest you search for specified sites about that also. http://www.uazone.net/sesna/ Is one of the Ukrainian search engines, it could be useful. Good luck, Stas

Lest I appear patronizing, I shall refrain from commending the "Views of a Non-Ukrainian". However, I cannot resist complimenting him on his crisp and refreshing grasp of the issues at hand.

I don't know all these complicated terms you use in your work when offering your customers all these advanced technologies (from North K[c]orea). [employment offert]I know that you feel very lonely on your post, but I'm afraid that my present job will me do. But why do you call the cloakroom 'office'? I hove some more 'lies' (in your dialect): http://srch0.un.org/plweb-cgi/fastwe...pl&setCookie=1 When making statements concerning some subject verify at first the most basis indexes. NORRYM WINS
You are right, NORRYM, I am ignorant on many issues. Indeed, I admitted that in an earlier post, as I also admitted that my thread title was ill thought.
I will indeed begin looking for the Norman Davies book this weekend. But my intention here is not to provoke; I have asked some sincere questions, and if I'm less than erudite on the current Ukrainian weltanschaung/world view, accept my apologies. I guess most are here to debate and/or argue, and I still wish someone, including Stas would give me their sincere opinions on questions I asked in my last post..... -Rusnak |

Oooops!
Well I am new to this posting and I just found the answers and recommendations from Stas which he already wrote.
Thanks, I will study them! And again, forgive me that I am not so learned as you all. We've all got to learn sometime! -Rusnak |
