Jacyniak = Яциняк in Ukrainian
The surname is connected to a 16th century documented landowner in Novogrod, Janishev Zamyatyn. Jansa, Jatsko and other variants are diminutive of Jan, Polish version of John. In derivative form, it is found attached to Polish, Ukrainian and Belarusyn ethnicities. There are 236 Яциняк living in Ukraine today. I found a handful in Lviv and one in Ivano Fankivsk, which would have been Galicia Province > Austro-Hungarian Empire at the turn of the century. Яциняк В ╤ Чукар╕на вул. Яциняк В ╤ Коломийська вул.
