life in kolkhozes

In the recent blog of Marietta Aardam, where she writes about the book about Estonia:
"Stories about the Soviet period and life in kolkhozes have always intrigued me. This period is so unique and virtually incomprehensible to an average modern European that any attempt to find out more about it is a pure pleasure."

I share her same interest but in Ukraine. Having some Ukrainian ancestry myself I have found my own writing to gravitate toward that area and time of history. So, I was wondering if there was anybody who would be so kind to direct me to similar literature, particulartly personal accounts of living in kolkhozes in Soviet Ukraine.
