Serhii: Canada has many very successful Ukrainian Canadians but they do not forget their beginnings. The culture, history, language, music is still used. For the first generation here, it was very hard work, to clear land in some places and get their crops in. Most of those parents wanted more than anything to send their children to University. Our Premier is a Stelmach. We have had a Governor General who represents Queen Elizabeth in Canada who was of Ukrainian heritage.

Thank you sjoyce - I will read . Here in Ukraine we try to watch all your major events , but it

isn’t easy. It is wonderful you have Stelmach , but I haven’t heard ( to my shame ). I hope he is

doing well for both all province and Ukrainian community.

Of course we wish you preserved your identity and always are happy to learn about it.

This does not always happen.... I am 5th generation Canadian Ukrainian and I know next to nothing about my family///language/////heritage/////..... Then again my family never passed down generations of information about Ukraine or the family where they livec exactly and the language.

I have made connctions to my family emigrating from the first wave of settelers 1891–1914 because my great grandfather was bron in 1912 in Sashkatchewan Canada and his father was born in 1884 in Austria-Bukovina...... if this is no connection i don't know what is........

Even though my family never shared their heritage with me I am very interested in learning the Language culture and traditions of my family and ancestors. Aparently I have ( Jewish, Austrian-Ukranian, and polish, Russian in my heritage )

There is some talk about my home town of Vegreville so I must join in. You are right, Vegreville is mainly Ukrainian descendants, but was founded by French and other people. The Ukrainians just sort of took it over. There is another town nearby called Mundare. Mundare is almost entirely Ukrainian and my family has a history in that area. In the area of Mundare and Vegreville you will find small towns, halls and churches with names from Galica like, Stanislaw, Stry, Kracow, and more. About a half hour away there is a massive out door museum complete with actors and equipment called the Ukrainian Village. If you are ever in the area it is worth seeing.
