Information on Woloszczyzna

My grandfather, Kazimierz Turczyn, was born in the village of Woloszczyzna in 1894. Any information about this village would be greatly appreciated. He was baptized a Roman Catholic and I'm interested in the
name of any Catholic Church in or close to the village?.....Thank you.

There were three same name place names, Woloszczyzna, in what is Ukraine today.

Woloszczyzna > Bobrka was both powiat and gmina. Hamlet size. Filial RC Church was in Stare Siolo. Filial GC Church in Olchowiec. Lwowskie wojowidstwo.

Woloszczyzna > Podhajce was both powiat and gmina > Ternopilskie wojowidstwo. Hamlet size. Filial RC church was in Podhajce and the filial GC Church was in Bozykow.

Woloszczyzna > Stary Sambor was both powiat and gmina. Village was predominantly Ukrainian w/its own GC Church. Filial RC Church in Starasol.

I cannot locate the LDS Films for Stara Sol. Probably best to check the Poland Genealogy sites for where the RC records may be????

Thank You Hannia. I think it has to be one of the top two villages on your list. The 3rd village you mention that is near Stary Sambor is listed on a 1920's map of Poland as Wołoszynowa. My grandfather’s working papers have his birthplace as Wołoszczyzna.

As per the Galician Gazetteer what you are referring to was Woloszcza > Sambor was the powiat, and Laka was the gmina.
This was a fair size village with both a Roman Catholic and a Greek Catholic Church.

Sambor and Staro Sambor are two different places.

Wołoszcza (Łaka), Galizien, Austria; later Wołoszcza (Sambor), Lwów, Poland; now Voloshcha, Drohobych, L′viv, Ukraine.
