I have been looking for one aswell.
I find a lot of good ones on Amazon (well they seem good, but I dont want to buy it and then find out its bad). Libraries usually have outdated things about Ukraine. |

Stepan my library carries it, so yours might too. Zybszek said it was good. I'll have to pick it up and read it.

None of these are 300 pages, but -
Paul Magosci, A History of Ukraine Orest Subtelny Ukraine: A History Both are very good. In Ukrainian, Велика ╤стор╕я Укра╖ни, by Mykola Holubets. It is a bit nationalistic, but very good, and has more on the Cossack period than the other two. You should be able to get this on an inter library loan through the University of Alberta. |

Hehe... both are about 800 pages, a little too heavy for me . Yes I do mean weight . I commute to work and other places by bike right now and the ride is kind of hard (300m elevation over 3.5 kms is my last stretch) since I work on a mountain. I try to limit the weight of what I put in my backpack as much as I can, so change of cloths and lunch is a must but the rest I pre-screen based on weight. So far I've been reading news magazines (like BC business) and since I haven't read a history book on Ukraine since I left Ukraine, I thought it was time for a refresher. Lemko, I did an internet search on the book you suggested and Amazon sells them used for $8, so I bit the bullet and just ordered it. It should be here in 4 to 6 weeks and I'll own it. |
